The Ahmedabad-based Adani Enterprises Limited is the flagship entity of the Adani Group (annual revenue of $32 billion in FY23), which is one of the biggest conglomerates with a big focus on infrastructure. Gautam Adani, whose net worth was estimated by Forbes at more than $54 billion in August 2023, started Adani Enterprises in 1993 as commodity trading firm that dealt mostly in coal. The company was listed on the BSE and NSE in 1994 at Rs 150 a share. A company presentation in March 2023 called Adani Enterprises as an incubator for the group with interests in airports, road transport, defence, solar power generation, and data centers among others. Other group entities like Adani Ports & SEZ, Adani Transmission, Adani Power, Adani Green Energy, Adani Total Gas and Adani Wilmar were built under the Adani Enterprises umbrella before being spun out.
