British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte had an awkward moment on the steps of 10 Downing Street, as the two leaders appeared to be temporarily locked out.
In a video shared by Sky News on social media site X, Sunak can be seen welcoming Rutte at his official residence. Soon after the two leaders posed for photographers, Sunak and Rutte were seen waiting as they were unable to get inside 10 Downing Street.

In the video, the two leaders can be seen attempting to peek through the side windows as the door remained briefly shut, locking them outside. Soon the door was opened by somebody from inside and they went in.
During their meeting, Sunak and Rutte discussed a range of issues including the Middle East, Ukraine and illegal migration, according to an official statement on December 7.
"The leaders discussed a range of geopolitical issues, including the situation in the Middle East. They expressed regret at the breakdown of the pause in fighting to release hostages and agreed that it was vital that more aid was able to get into Gaza, including by exploring new routes. They also agreed on the critical importance of preventing regional escalation and a unified effort to prevent attempts to threaten maritime security," the statement read.
Post the meeting, Mark Rutte said he discussed several issues with the British PM, including their support for Ukraine and their close defence cooperation in this area.
"Following my trip to the United States I visited UK Prime Minister @RishiSunak in London. The Netherlands and the United Kingdom have always enjoyed strong ties. We discussed several topics, including our enduring support for Ukraine and our close defence cooperation in this area. Naturally we also talked about the alarming situation in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. It was a successful meeting, and I thank Prime Minister Sunak for the warm welcome he gave me," Rutte wrote on X.
Rutte, a four-time Dutch Prime Minister, recently announced that he is quitting politics.
