Camouflage-clad gunmen on Friday opened fire at concertgoaers with automatic weapons, killing at least 60 people and injuring around 145 more. Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the attack.
This is the deadliest attack Russia has seen ever since 2004, when gunmen opened fire just before a performance at the 6,200 seater Crocus City Hall.
News agency Reuters reported that a verified video shows people taking their seats at the concert hall, then rushing towards the exits as gunfire and screams are heard.
Russian investigators said the death toll was over 60 and health officials said over 145 were injured and of them 60 were in a critical condition.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media platform X saying he "strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow".
We strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. India stands in solidarity with the government and the people of the Russian Federation in this hour of grief.
