Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephonic conversation with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, March 20. Modi extended his congratulations to the Russian leader on his re-election victory while emphasising the need for dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Officials familiar with the conversation disclosed that both leaders took stock of the progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and global matters. They affirmed their commitment to boosting the 'India-Russia Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership,' signalling an intent to fortify ties between the two nations.
During the call, Modi felicitated Putin and conveyed his best wishes for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the Russian people.
With regard to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Modi reiterated India's stance in favour of dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred means of conflict resolution. Both leaders concurred on the necessity of maintaining communication channels and affirmed their intent to stay engaged on the issue.
