As Israel forces encircle Gaza, PM Modi dials UAE president — leaders call for early resolution of crisis

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, November 3, held a telephonic conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed the ongoing crisis in West Asia that seems to be spiralling out of control.

Expressing deep concern about the deteriorating security situation and the humanitarian crisis, the leaders called for early resolution of the situation. The leaders called for long peace in the region.

"The two leaders called for an early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation. They emphasised the importance of durable peace, security and stability in the region," a press release said.
The ongoing conflict erupted after armed gunmen of a Gaza-based militant outfit crossed over into Israel undetected, massacring over 1,400 civilians in broad daylight on October 7. Hamas' October invasion led to heavy aerial bombardment by Israeli Air Force (IAF) and subsequent ground invasion by Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) after Tel Aviv vowed to completely eradicate the outfit.
The Palestinian death toll has exceeded 9,000, alarming the United Nations which is cautioning of "genocide."
Meanwhile, on the 28th day of the conflict, Israeli forces encircled Gaza City engaging in combat with Hamas militants.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Security Cabinet decided to deduct all funds designated for the Gaza Strip. He posted, "Israel is severing all contact with Gaza. There will be no more Palestinian workers from Gaza. Those workers from Gaza who were in Israel on the day of the outbreak of the war will be returned to Gaza."
This comes amid growing concern that the ongoing conflict may end up drawing in more hostile groups against Israel.
