Stranded Trudeau's departure from India set for Tuesday after awkward G20 visit
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's departure from India, originally scheduled for Sunday (September 10) night, has been rescheduled for late Tuesday afternoon due to a technical glitch that grounded his aircraft. The situation remains fluid, and Canadian Armed Forces are working to ensure a safe and timely return for the Canadian delegation, a spokesperson for the Canadian PM's office told CNBC-TV18.

He said, "The Canadian Armed Forces continue their best efforts to get the Canadian delegation home. We will keep you updated regularly as the situation evolves. Their latest update shows an earliest possible departure of Tuesday late afternoon."
The delay has left Prime Minister Trudeau and his delegation stranded in New Delhi, extending their visit to India beyond the originally planned schedule. However, a replacement aircraft is expected to reach the Indian capital, poised to ferry Trudeau and his team back to Ottawa, as per a report by news agency Bloomberg.
The report added that the Canadian delegation remained confined to their hotel for most of Monday (September 11) as they awaited a resolution to the technical issues plaguing their original aircraft.
This unexpected delay in Trudeau's departure comes on the heels of a contentious visit to India, marked by criticism from the Indian government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed "strong concerns about continuing anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada" during the G20 Summit.
Trudeau's office had issued a statement earlier, acknowledging the difficulties: "These issues are not fixable overnight, our delegation will be staying in India until alternate arrangements are made."
