There are enough opportunities in the Indian market, especially in mid and smallcap universe, which can reward over the long-term, said Pankaj Tibrewal, Senior Vice President and Equity Fund Manager, Kotak Mutual Fund.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Tibrewal said investors should focus on companies with good management, business models and credentials over the last many years.
According to Tibrewal, if you find businesses, which have shown fundamental growth but have corrected sharply in this fall, deploy your money in those stocks.
The correction in the market could be healthy after a brilliant 2017 and could be part of long-term upward move. The weak names have been weeded out. So over the next 6-12 months investors should start looking at midcap funds again with Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) in mind, Tibrewal added.
Investors need to focus on structural stories with good management and governance rather than cyclicals, he said.
