Thiruvananthapuram airport honoured with Excellence Award by Quality Circle Forum
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has been honoured with the prestigious Excellence Award by the Quality Circle Forum of India during the National Convention on Quality Concepts 2024 held in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The recognition was bestowed upon the airport for its commitment to continuous improvement in airport operations, as highlighted a statement released by the airport read. Union Minister for Roads and Highways, Nitin Gadkari called out Thiruvananthapuram Airport's effective initiatives, particularly its establishment of a robust mechanism to maintain Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) devoid of obstacles, ensuring safe aircraft operations.

Subsequently, the airport was lauded for its sustainability initiatives contributing to the preservation of biodiversity. The Quality Circle Forum of India, representing the Quality Circle Movement in the country, serves as a recognised institution that has represented India in various international forums.
Meanwhile, Singapore's Changi Airport, which handled 328,000 flights, accommodating 58.9 million passengers in 2023 said that India ranked fifth among its top passenger markets.
According to data released by Changi Airport Group, India secured the fifth position among the airport's largest passenger markets, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand. This is an improvement since 2019 when Changi Airport registered 68.3 million passenger movements, positioning India as the sixth travel traffic generator.
There was an 83% surge in traffic in 2023, compared to the 32.2 million passengers in 2022, which reflects a positive rebound for the Airport.
