The season usually starts towards the end of March and lasts till early April. During this time, people often gather in parks and other outdoor spaces and enjoy time with their family and friends, amid the beautiful pink and white flowers. This flower-watching ritual in Japan is called 'Hanami'.
Dates for 2024 cherry blossom season
In the Kyushu and Shikoku regions of Japan, the anticipated dates for flowering will be between March 19 and March 25, while it will be from March 21-24 in the Chugoku region, including Hiroshima, Shimane, and Okayama.

Japan's capital city, Tokyo, will witness the cherry blossom flowering on March 20, while the Kanto/Koshin region will see it between March 20 and April 6.

For other regions -- Hokuriku, Tohoku, and Hokkaido -- the flowering is expected from March 26 to May 12.
