Both runways at Mumbai Airport are slated for a temporary closure lasting six hours on October 17, due to essential maintenance work, resulting in the suspension of flight operations during this period.

The airport operator officially announced that the maintenance activities for both runways are scheduled to occur from 11 am to 5 pm, according to a statement released on Friday.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued six months in advance to inform airlines and other relevant stakeholders about this planned closure.
The statement clarified, "As part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's comprehensive post-monsoon runway maintenance plan, both runways - RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32 - will be temporarily non-operational on October 17 from 1100 hours to 1700 hours."
This temporary closure aligns with CSMIA's annual post-monsoon preventive maintenance plan.
Mumbai Airport, the second busiest in India after Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, boasts two intersecting runways, namely, 09/27 (the primary runway) and 14/32 (the secondary runway).
However, the airport told CNBC-TV18 there won't be any cancellations since airlines were already informed about this in advance.
On September 14, in an unrelated incident, a Learjet 45 aircraft operated by VSR Ventures, with registration VT-DBL, veered off the runway during its landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. The aircraft was en route from Vizag to Mumbai when the incident occurred, involving six passengers and two crew members on board.
