Indian Railways has announced special trains to different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to ease festive rush ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja.

Diwali festivities and Chhath Puja are around the corner and the demand for train tickets has gone up in the last few days. To ease the festive rush, Indian Railways is going to run special trains to different cities in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Earlier in October, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishanaw said that 283 special trains will be operated by Indian Railways across the country during the festive season.
The majority of these trains will operate from Delhi, Mumbai and Pune to different cities in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to accommodate more passengers amid the rush for Diwali and Chhath Puja.
While sharing the details, Northern Railway wrote on X, “In order to clear extra rush of passengers, Railways have decided to run the following additional Festival Special Express Trains.”
According to Northern Railway, a special train from New Delhi to Gorakhpur Jn (05065-05066) will be running from Gorakhpur on November 8 and 15 (Wednesday) and from New Delhi on November 9 and 16 (Thursday).
Another special train will be running from Delhi Jn-Darbhanga Jn-Delhi Jn (05527-0552). From Darbhanga Jn, the train will be running from November 23 to December 7 (every Thursday) and from Delhi Jn, it will run from November 24 to December 8 (every Friday).
Apart from the Northern Railway, East Central Railway and Central Railway will be running festive special trains to UP and Bihar. Here is a list of all the Diwali and Chhath Puja Special trains announced for UP and Bihar by different divisions of Indian Railways.
Northern Railway
  1. Gorakhpur Jn. – New Delhi- Gorakhpur Jn. (05065-05066) on every Wednesday and Thursday, having 4 total trips starting from November 8 to 16.
  2. Gorakhpur Jn. – New Delhi- Gorakhpur Jn. (05069- 05070) on every Tuesday and Wednesday, having 4 total trips starting from November 14 to 22.
  3. Ara Jn- Anand Vihar Terminal- Ara Jn (03227- 03228) has 14 total trips starting from November 13 to December 3.
  4. Chhapra Jn- New Delhi- Chhapra Jn (05159-05160) every Saturday and Monday, starting from November 11 to 20.
  5. New Delhi- Bapudham Motihari- New Delhi (04018-04017) has a total of 8 trips on the route starting from November 18 to 28.
    6. Central Railway
    1. 01417 Pune-Danapur Express- every Sunday from 12th November to 03rd December it will depart from Pune at 06.35 hrs and reach Danapur at 11.40 hrs the next day.
    2. Train no. 01418 Danapur-Pune Express Every Monday from 13th November to 04th December it will depart from Danapur at 13.30 hrs and reach Pune at 18.20 hrs the next day.
    3. Train No. 01419 Pune-Danapur Express- depart from Pune at 15.15 hrs every Wednesday from 15th November to 06th December and reach Danapur at 19.00 hrs the next day.
    4. Train No. 01420 Danapur-Pune Express- depart from Danapur at 22.40 hrs every Thursday from 16th November to 07th December and reach Pune at 05.50 hrs on the third day.
    5. Train no. 01421 Pune-Danapur Express- departs from Pune at 06.35 hrs every Tuesday from 14th November to 05th December and reaches Danapur at 11.40 hrs the next day.
    6. Train no. 01422 Danapur-Pune Express- depart from Danapur at 13.30 hrs every Wednesday from 15th November to 06th December and reach Pune at 19.40 hrs the next day.
      7. East Central Railway
      1. 05527-05528 Delhi-Darbhanga-Delhi Express special train from November 11 to December 12.
      2. 04811-04812 Bhagat Ki Kothi-Danapur-Bhagat Ki Kothi from November 8 to 30.
      3. 04489-04490 New Delhi-Darbhanga-New Delhi Special from November 8 to 16.
      4. 02260-02259 New Delhi-Bhagalpur-New Delhi Special from November 14 to 18.
      5. 08625-08626 Ranchi-Laheriasarai-Ranchi Special from November 9 to 17.
