Kaziranga sees record 1.7 lakh visitors by mid-tourist season
During the last three months of the ongoing tourist season in Kaziranga a record record 1,79,573 travellers comprising of nature enthusiasts visited the national park. According to officials, the tourists generated an estimated revenue of 4.58 crore.

The trourist season in Kazirangan begins in mid-October and despite the adverse impact of the pandemic on tourist inflow in the preceding years, there has been a notable surge in visitors in 2023.
In the 2021-22 and 2022-23 tourist seasons , the park witnessed 2,55,676 and 3,26,924 visitors respectively, yielding revenues of approximately 5.49crore and 7.76 crore.
The park has 2,401 Indian rhinoceros and is home to the population of the species in the world. it has over 1,600 wild water buffalo and eastern swamp deer.

For the tourist year 2023-24, the Central and Western ranges commenced operations in mid-October, while the other two ranges opened in late November. Closure of the park is anticipated by the end of April or early May, coinciding with the onset of the monsoon.
Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and iconic inhabitants like the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga has emerged as a top-choice destination for families and wildlife aficionados, the official said.
Tea tourism, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the region's tea culture, has also been started in the area from February last year and the initiative is aimed at showcase the beauty of the area long with providing an immersive experience in the art of tea production.
Kaziranga is renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse biodiversity, and iconic inhabitants such as the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga has become a preferred destination for families and wildlife enthusiasts, the official stressed. Additionally, the introduction of tea tourism in February aims to showcase the region's tea culture, offering visitors an immersive experience in tea production while highlighting the area's natural beauty.
Innovative initiatives like Kazir Ronghangpi Tales, aimed at preserving the cultural heritage and narratives of Kaziranga and its surroundings, as well as activities such as cycling in Kohora, Panpur jeep safari, and boat safari in Biswanath Wildlife Division, have been undertaken by the authorities, further enhancing the visitor experience, the official added.
