Goa Tourism has been making rigorous efforts to ensure the costal state becomes one of the most-visited destinations in India and to recognise its efforts, the state has been honoured with the "Destination of the Year" award at PATWA Travel Award held at ITB Berlin 2024.
What doubled the celebrations in the state administration is that its Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte was honoured with the "Tourism Minister of the Year" accolade at the PATWA Travel Awards. The awards were bestowed on the state and its tourism minister in acknowledgment of its rich cultural heritage and inviting ambiance that continues to attract travellers worldwide.
Earlier in an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte had reiterated the Goa Tourism's vision of building on regenerative tourism and the efforts the state has been taking to make Goa a sustainable tourist destination.

In a statement, the Goa Tourism Ministry told CNBC-TV18, "This recognition commends Khaunte's visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable tourism practices, thereby significantly contributing to the socio-economic growth of the region."
The awards were accepted by Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary Tourism, Government of Goa, during a ceremony held in Berlin, Germany. Ahuja was happy to receive the honour and emphasized the efforts of Goa Tourism in showcasing the diverse attractions of the state and its steadfast dedication to sustainable tourism principles.
"Goa has emerged as a trailblaser in India by embracing Regenerative Tourism, incorporating elements of Spiritual Tourism into its broader tourism strategy. These innovative initiatives seek to revitalize and amplify the natural and cultural treasures of the state, offering visitors a holistic and immersive experience."
"The Department of Tourism will continue to promote sustainable and regenerative tourism practices, enhancing visitor experiences, and solidifying Goa's stature as a premier global destination,” the statement read.
