This collaboration builds on a similar intermodal partnership in the UK, Italy, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands, enhancing travel experience for Air India passengers.

This partnership will let passengers access Deutsche Bahn trains to and from major European cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, and Zurich through Air India's Frankfurt gateway. WorldTicket, an IATA travel partner, holds its own AOC-holding airline, FlexFlight, with the designator code W2, enabling these intermodal journeys under a single ticket.
Air India's guests can enjoy the convenience of a consistent baggage allowance on the rail routes, mirroring the airline's policies on its flights. Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer at Air India in a statement highlighted the significance of the partnership: "While we continue to expand our own route network globally, such partnerships help us to provide an extended network to our guests, and make journeys to their final destinations more convenient, "
Notably, Air India has witnessed substantial passenger traffic on its Frankfurt flights, which serve as a crucial hub for connecting to other German cities and towns. This partnership caters to the growing needs of an increasing number of passengers seeking seamless, multi-modal travel options.
For now, intermodal tickets with Air India can be booked through travel agents worldwide, with plans to progressively extend this facility to Air India's own sales channels in the future.
