The priority section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS, which is the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), is set to be inaugurated on October 20 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the inauguration, the Sahibabad-Duhai Depot section of the RRTS corridor will be open for travellers from October 21.

This priority section, between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, includes five stations— Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.
Furthermore, the inauguration of the priority section will also be marked by the release of a smart RAPIDX card.
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has hailed the vision of Prime Minister Modi for the launch of the priority section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS..
“From BRTS to RRTS. Rarely has the world seen such a leader who places so much importance on improving Urban Mobility for the poor and the common man,” Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted.
The passengers will pay between Rs 20 and Rs 50 for Standard Class from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, according to the fare rates announced by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The fare will be Rs 100 for the Premium Class on Rapidx trains. However, children with a height of less than 90 cm can travel freely. The premium class tickets have been priced between Rs 40 and Rs 100 from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot depending on the distance.
How to book tickets for the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor
The passengers can book tickets for Delhi-Meerut RRTS trains using multiple modes:
  • Digital mobile tickets through the Rapidx Connect mobile app.
  • NCMC-compliant cards, which can be obtained at the station’s ticket counters.
  • Credit/debit/prepaid cards or cash payments using ticket vending machines (TVMs).
  • Journey tickets on paper code QR, available at TVMs or ticket counters.
  • The TVMs will be available at stations, including Sahibabad (4), Ghaziabad (4), Guldhar (2), and Duhai (2). Commuters would be allowed to carry luggage of up to 25 kg and the maximum dimensions should be 80 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm.
    What is RAPIDX?
    RAPIDX is an RRTS Corridor under construction, which is being built under collaboration between the Central government and the Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh governments. NCRTC is overseeing the development of India's first RRTS from Delhi to Meerut.
    The RAPIDX trains will feature six coaches, with one designated for ladies placed next to the deluxe coach. Other coaches will also have reserved seats for women, specially-abled, and senior citizens. Premium coaches have separate coloured seats, reclining seats, coat hooks, magazine holders and footrests, among other amenities. Premium coaches are separated by sliding doors from the first and last coaches on the route connecting Delhi to Meerut. The platform lounge which leads to the premium coach has cushioned seats and a vending machine for drinks and snacks.
    Meanwhile, National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) are expected to have a recharge limit ranging between Rs 100 and Rs 2,000. In addition, commuters can begin using any NCMC card from the first day of operations. They can also buy digital QR code-based tickets using the NCRTC mobile application, RAPIDX Connect, and pay using UPI payments.
