In a dynamic showcase of artistic prowess, India's premier cultural institution, Lalit Kala Akademi, is showcasing two meticulously curated exhibitions — 'Imag(in)ing the Immediate' and 'The Afghan Journal.' Curated by Assistant Editor of the Akademi and art historian Johny ML, the exhibitions promise a profound exploration of artistry. Artist Jatin Das inaugurated the exhibitions at the LKA Galleries at Rabhindra Bhavan, Mandi House, New Delhi.

'Imag(in)ing the Immediate' draws from Lalit Kala Akademi's extensive collection, featuring seventy carefully selected works that transcend the boundaries of fame. ‘The Afghan Journal’ is a solo presentation of sixteen paintings by young Mauritius artist, Akshay Seebaluck, who travels the world and makes paintings. These works are painted during his sojourn in Afghanistan.
The curator ingeniously juxtaposes pieces from celebrated modernists with those of lesser-known contemporaries, creating a narrative that explores stylistic and thematic exchanges. This exhibition underscores the significance of a national collection in shaping diverse artistic dialogues.
The Afghan Journal, features sixteen expressive paintings that provide a unique perspective on the daily lives of Afghan people and the breathtaking mountainous landscapes. Seebaluck, an Indian-origin artist, reflects on his positive adventure in Afghanistan, highlighting the warmth and support he received from the locals for his art.
