The Jaipur Literary Festival is going to make a comeback to Houston with its sixth edition this year. The reputed literary festival will be returning to Houston along with an engaging schedule of events, which includes several renowned writers and eminent personalities. The event in Houston will be held from September 15 to September 17.

The inaugural event of JLF in Houston will begin with a gripping session titled, 'Ukraine: The Cost of War', which is anticipated to be revolving around the harsh realities of the conflict and its impact on the literary world. The participants in the inaugural session include Tetyana Dzyadevych, an expert on topics of contemporary Ukrainian and Russian culture and literature; Oksana Lutsyshyna, who is the recipient of the UNESCO Prize for Lviv City of Literature; and the award-winning author, journalist and television presenter Anjan Sundaram.
Apart from the inaugural session, there are a series of events scheduled in the three-day-long literary festival. Out of which, one session will feature the Independence fame renowned author, Chitra Banerjee Divakruni, in conversation with the Inprint Donald Barthelme Prize winner, Tayyba Maya Kanwal. The two will be exploring the human cost of “independence” in the context of Bengal, Bangladesh and the consequences of Partition in their discussion.
Additionally, the Jaipur Literary Festival will engage in conversations such as the banning of books across different eras and in different societal landscapes. The festival will also be organising an interactive session with the acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair.
Outside India, the Jaipur Literary Festival began its journey in 2018 from Houston. It then moved to New York and Colorado in 2022.
Last year, the first hybrid edition of the festival was organised successfully in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Houston, Asia Society Texas Centre and Inprint, reported PTI. The event this time in Houston will be the third destination in North America.
However, before arriving in Houston, the Jaipur Literary Festival was organised in New York on September 12 and 13, where the event featured delegates such as author and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Vijay Sheshadri, Mathematician and novelist Manil Suri and Sahitya Akademi Award winner Arundhati Subramaniam.
