Chhath Puja is one of the most important Hindu festivals, widely celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. It is also observed in Delhi and Mumbai by migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This festival is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God.

As per the Hindu calendar, the festival of Chhath Puja is observed from Chaturthi to Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik.
During this festival, the devotees practice fasting and offer prayers. The Puja is offered to the Sun God, to seek blessings for children and family. Chhath Puja is a four-day festival that includes different types of rituals on each day.
This year, Chhath Puja will be observed from November 17 to November 20, with each day marking specific rituals from Nahay Khay to Usha Arghya.

Day 1: Nahay Khay (Friday, November 17)
According to the Drik Panchang, the sunrise will be taking place at 6:45 AM and sunset will be at 5:47 PM. On the first day of Chhath Puja, known as Nahay Khay, devotees take a holy bath in a water body such as a river or pond. They only consume one meal for the day and maintain fasting for rest of the time. It marks the beginning of the auspicious festival.
Day 2: Kharna (Saturday, November 18)
The sunrise on the second day will be taking place at 6:46 AM while the sunset will start at 5:26 PM.
The second day, known as Kharna, involves a strict fast in which the devotees only consume a special Prasad called Lohanda which is offered to the Sun God. The day is believed to be observed as a day of purification.
Day 3: Sandhya Arghya (Sunday, November 19)

The third-day is believed to be the main day of celebration as devotees offer water (Arghya) to the setting sun. The rituals are a way of expressing gratitude to the Sun God seeking blessings for children and family. While performing the ritual, devotees stand in a wait-deep water and offer Arghya to the setting Sun.
Day 4: Usha Arghya (Monday, November 20)
The sunrise, on November 20, will be taking place at 6:47 AM while the sun will be setting at 5:26 PM.
The Usha Arghya marks the final day of the celebration on which the devotees offer water (arghya) to the rising Sun and end fast after taking prasad. It is the culmination of Chhath Puja and those who observe fasting during this period end the fast by taking prasad. The ritual is known as parana.
