Bharti Airtel Ltd will soon launch a collection of e-books for smartphone users called Airtel Books, reported Mint.
Airtel, which already has a strong digital content including music streaming app Wynk Music and video streaming app Airtel TV, is expecting to beef up its digital wing with an e-book aimed at smartphone users, Sameer Batra, chief executive officer (CEO), content and apps, Bharti Airtel told Mint.
The report said that the feature will initially offer more than 70,000 titles from leading Indian and international authors.
According to the report, the telecoms major expects that the upgrades will prompt its subscribers to go for higher tariff plans.
Currently, Airtel has 28.42 crore paying subscribers on its network , Wynk has 12 crores and Airtel TV has 8 crore users.
