WhatsApp introduces new text formatting options
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday, February 21, that WhatsApp is rolling out four additional text formatting options to enhance the messaging experience for users. According to Zuckerberg, the latest features are designed to allow users to better organise and refine their messages on the popular messaging platform.

Zuckerberg said these new options are geared towards saving time and facilitating more effective communication, particularly within group chats on WhatsApp.
The newly introduced formatting features include:
1. Bulleted Lists:
- Aimed at outlining steps in a process, listing ingredients in a recipe, or emphasising key points in a message.
- Users can apply this feature by typing the '-' symbol followed by a space.
2. Numbered Lists:
- Ideal for indicating a specific order of instructions or providing a recap of events.
- Users can utilize this feature by typing 1 or 2 digits, followed by a period and one space.
3. Block Quote:
- Designed to highlight key text and make it more noticeable in messages.
- Users can implement this feature by typing the '>' symbol followed by a space.
4. Inline Code:
- Enables users to distinguish specific information within a sentence.
- To utilize this feature, users can wrap text with the ` symbol.
These additions complement the existing formatting options of Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, and Monospace, providing users with a versatile texting experience.
These new formatting options are now accessible to all users on Android, iOS, Web, and Mac desktop platforms. Additionally, channel administrators will have the capability to leverage these features for more structured and organized communication within their groups.
