Facebook-owned WhatsApp is considered to be one of the safest online platforms but it has its own share of controversies. The recent problem is created by a bug which is automatically deleting WhatsApp messages from chats, leaving users confused and helpless.
Users have taken to Twitter to share the messages in WhatsApp chats getting deleted in chronological order, starting with the oldest message in a chat.
It looks this issue persists for some Android users. Are you still experiencing it? pic.twitter.com/piBXEUopIt

There has been no official statement from WhatsApp until now.
Last year, WhatsApp announced a partnership with Google, under which all the WhatsApp backups will be stored in Google Drive but the data won’t be counted against the 15GB free storage limit that every user gets on Google Drive. There is a probability that this could be a potential reason for WhatsApp users as their messages are getting deleted.
But for now, to avoid this bug, it is recommended that every user should backup their WhatsApp chats and media to Google Drive. To do so, open the WhatsApp app in your smartphone and navigate to the Menu option> Settings > Chats > Chat backup> Back up to Google Drive.
