TikTok's new photo-sharing platform to compete with Instagram; details inside
TikTok is all set to battle Instagram with the introduction of its latest app called TikTok Photos. To compete with TikTok in the video space, Instagram earlier introduced Reels, which became a huge success.

However, now TikTok is planning to go the other way around and is said to be working on its photo-sharing app, as code found in the TikTok app suggests.
As per reports, TikTok’s APK file, which is an installable file format for Android devices, contains icons and references to the new app -- TikTok Photos.
This app might cater to “like-minded people who enjoy photo posts,” read the description.
According to TechCrunch, the description of the latest 33.8.5 version reads, “Whether you’re a world traveller, food blogger, or simply enjoy sharing what’s going on in your life, TikTok Photos is our all-new photo-sharing platform dedicated to helping creators like you reach other like-minded people”.
Further, it stated that TikTok Photos is an ‘all-new photo-sharing platform’ which provides users an easier way to enjoy and discover photo posts.
Earlier, the company had launched TikTok Music to compete with music streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
The code suggests a user-friendly interface for the new app encouraging integration with the main TikTok platform, allowing users to share content between the two apps.
Although details regarding the official release date and availability of the TikTok Photos are still unknown, speculations are rife about a launch event happening soon.
However, this comes at a time when the company is facing scrutiny from US lawmakers. This week, the US House of Representatives is expected to vote on legislation that could potentially ban TikTok from operating within US territory.
President Joe Biden has reportedly extended his support for the bill, vowing to sign it if approved by the US Congress. China-based ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, is facing allegations of data privacy breaches in the US.
