The YouTube channel of T-Series, India’s largest music label and movie studio, is set to grab the top spot on the list of most subscribed channels of the video-sharing platform in the world.
T-Series' YouTube channel has so far recorded 53 billion views and once it adds one lakh more subscribers, the record label channel will steal the limelight from Swedish vlogger PewDiePie.
PewDiePie, known for Nazi jokes and racist comments in his videos, is currently the top YouTuber worldwide with as many as 67,245,527 subscribers. PewDiePie has held the title for five years.
T-Series, founded in 1980s by late music mogul Gulshan Kumar, thrived even before the internet came to being.
After the evolution of the internet, T-Series began to post trailers and music videos on its YouTube channel from 2010. The company, in June 2018, said they became the second largest subscriber base globally after it achieved a 50 million subscriber base.
India is the second largest online market, ranked behind China, with 462.12 million users as of December 2017. By 2021, there are likely to be 635.8 million internet users in the country.
