Sundar Pichai has been named the new chief executive officer of Alphabet. He takes over after chief executive officer Larry Page and president Sergey Brin stepped down.
Page and Brin will continue with Alphabet as co-founders, shareholders and member of the board of directors. Both co-founded Alphabet 21 years ago and are now moving to other ventures.
Alphabet is Google’s parent company and it owns self-driving car tech biz, Waymo and healthcare software co, Verily. Pichai became the CEO of Google in 2015.
