The Samsung R&D Institute Noida (SRI-Noida) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur for a five-year programme, comprising joint research initiatives involving students, faculty, and engineers from both institutions, with a specific focus on health, visual framework, B2B security, Generative AI, and Cloud technologies, Samsung said in a press release.
The MoU, signed by Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director of SRI-Noida, and Tarun Gupta, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, outlines the framework for collaborative research projects to address industry challenges and align with market needs.
“We anticipate a constructive exchange of ideas, knowledge, and talent that will contribute to the success of projects and the growth of both Samsung and IIT Kanpur," Koo said
S Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, emphasised the pragmatic environment this collaboration aims to create for cutting-edge projects, offering valuable opportunities for students and researchers. He said, “By combining the academic excellence of IIT Kanpur with the industry expertise of Samsung India, we aim to create an environment for projects and opportunities that bridge the gap between academia and industry.”
Beyond research projects, the MoU outlines provisions for upskilling opportunities for Samsung engineers. Specialised training programmes across various domains will be conducted by IIT Kanpur, offering Samsung engineers access to the institute’s expertise, leading to degree programmes, certifications, and specialised courses tailored to enhance their skills and knowledge, the press release added.
