Samsung rolls out BP monitoring, ECG to Galaxy Watch6 series in India
Samsung has announced the debut of blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking features for the Galaxy Watch6 series in India. The features are available through an over-the-air (OTA) roll-out. These features, available through the Samsung Health Monitor App, offer users the convenience of monitoring their health, supporting fitness routines, and facilitating regular health check-ups.

Succeeding in receiving regulatory clearances and certifications from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, the BP and ECG tracking features enhance the Galaxy Watch6 series as a personal health and fitness monitoring device, complementing traditional medical check-ups, Samsung said in a press release.
To access the new tracking features, Galaxy Watch6 users can download the Samsung Health Monitor App from the Galaxy Store and follow simple instructions. The availability of these features will also extend to the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 series.
The blood pressure monitoring feature utilises the Galaxy Watch's built-in Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor to measure systolic and diastolic pressure, as well as pulse rate. Users can follow a straightforward process, involving the download of the Samsung Health Monitor App, calibration of the Galaxy Watch, wearing the watch snugly on the calibrated wrist, and finally, measuring blood pressure.
For electrocardiogram readings, users need to pair their Galaxy Watch with a Galaxy smartphone, wear the watch snugly on the wrist, open the Samsung Health Monitor app, and rest their fingertip on the watch's top button for 30 seconds. The ECG data is then synchronised with the paired Galaxy smartphone, where a PDF report is generated.
