Samsung quietly unveils budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A9 and A9 Plus tablets in India
Samsung has silently unveiled its latest offerings in the tablet market with the launch of the Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9 Plus in India. These budget-friendly Android tablets made their debut without the usual fanfare and press announcements that typically accompany Samsung's product releases. Despite their understated introduction, these devices are poised to be contenders in the affordable tablet segment.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 and Galaxy Tab A9 Plus were quietly introduced to the Indian market, with their product listings going live over the weekend during the country's online sale season. While the exact timeline for their global release remains undisclosed, leaks from the past have hinted at an imminent worldwide launch.
Taking a closer look at the specifications, the Galaxy Tab A9 boasts an 8.7-inch LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Camera-wise, it sports an 8MP rear camera with autofocus, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5,100mAh battery. Interestingly, the Amazon India listing suggests both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus 5G variants, although it appears to contain an error regarding telephony support for the Wi-Fi-only version.
Rumours have also hinted at 15W charging support, alongside a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port, though these details could not be confirmed in the current product listing. The Galaxy Tab A9 is priced at Rs. 12,999 for the Wi-Fi variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 5G variant.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus boasts an 11-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 (SM6375) processor, offering 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Camera specifications include an 8MP rear camera with autofocus, a 5MP front camera, and a 5,100mAh battery. However, discrepancies arise in the product listing, as it mentions an included S Pen, which is not reflected in the pictured box contents.
Furthermore, the listing indicates that the Wi-Fi variant is available in only a 128GB storage option, while the Wi-Fi plus 5G variant comes in both 64GB and 128GB variants. Similar to the Galaxy Tab A9, it mentions telephony support for both variants, which seems improbable for the Wi-Fi-only version. The battery information also contradicts past leaks, as it suggests a smaller 5,100mAh battery, rather than the rumoured 7,040mAh capacity with 15W charging support. Similarly, the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside the USB-C port, as indicated in previous leaks, could not be verified in the current listing.
The Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is priced at Rs 20,999 for the 128GB Wi-Fi variant and Rs 22,999 for the 64GB 5G variant. The pricing for the 128GB 5G variant remains undisclosed. Pre-orders are currently open, with the tablet expected to be released on October 17, marking the commencement of open sales.
