Oppo launches A79 5G smartphone in India at ₹19,999; check features and specifications

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has launched its mid-range smartphone Oppo A79 5G in India. Prior to the official announcement of the handset’s launch, speculations were rife about the features and design of the latest device from Oppo.

Meanwhile, Oppo India made an official announcement of launching the Oppo A79 5G on social media platform X.
“Don't miss your chance to own the all-new OPPO A79 5G at an incredible price of ₹ 19,999 only! Get ready to Bring Your A-Game with a smartphone that redefines excellence,” tweeted Oppo India.
The newly launched model has been priced at ₹19,999 in India. It is now available across Oppo Stores and retail outlets. Additionally, the smartphone is also available on e-commerce sites like Flipkart and Amazon.
The Oppo A79 5G comes with a 6.72-inch LCD display that offers FHD+ screen resolution, 680 nits brightness, 180 Hz touch sampling rate, and 90Hz refresh rate. The newly launched handset is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Oppo A79 5G operates with ColorOS 13.1.
Additionally, it has been backed by a 5000 mAh battery which supports a 33W SUPERVOOC charging system. It sports a dual-rear camera setup which includes a 50MP AI-powered primary lens and a 2MP secondary lens. On the other side, it features an 8MP selfie lens. Apart from this, it consists of dual stereo speakers, ultra-volume mode, IPX4 rating, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Oppo A79 5G is now available in two colour variants--Glowing Green and Mystery Black. However, it has only a single storage variant.
Earlier this month, Oppo A18 was launched in the Indian market. In addition to that, the phone maker has also released a couple of other A-series smartphones such as Oppo A2x and Oppo A2m in China. According to the recent leak of the NBTC certification database, there are some more A-series models to launch soon.
