Consumer tech giant OnePlus on Tuesday announced that it has joined the App Defense Alliance (ADA), becoming the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to engage with the security coalition. The ADA, as per its website, is "focused on protecting users by preventing threats from reaching their devices and improving app quality across the ecosystem".
OnePlus said with this move, the company aims to safeguard user privacy and fortify device security.
Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus, said, "As a brand driven by community values, user privacy and information security stand as integral pillars of OnePlus products. Our association with ADA is a testament to our commitment to these principles."
OnePlus stated in the press release that it has a long-standing practice of incorporating robust security features into its product line. The OnePlus 12, featuring the OxygenOS 14 operating system, introduces advanced security functionalities such as Device Security Engine 3.0, an enhanced Security Center, Strong Box chip-level encryption, Auto Pixelate 2.0, and Photo Management Permission settings, all — as per OnePlus — designed to offer comprehensive protection for users.
Regarding applications, the company said its Intelligent Shield programme has played a pivotal role in the identification and mitigation of malicious applications.
By joining this alliance, OnePlus said it underscores its commitment to developing devices and services with top-tier security features and also expresses its readiness to collaborate and share expertise within the alliance.
