NTT Group and ClimateForce join hands to develop 'smart rainforest' in Australia

NTT Group and ClimateForce — an Australian chairty — have announced a partnership to develop the world’s inaugural Smart Rainforest, utilising NTT’s Smart Management Platform technology, a press release said, adding that this collaboration aims to rejuvenate a segment of the Daintree Rainforest in Australia, while also advancing sustainable and economical models for global environmental restoration initiatives.

The selected area within Australia’s Daintree Rainforest, previously cleared for agricultural purposes decades ago, is being targeted for regeneration by ClimateForce. Nestled adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef, the land has succumbed to invasive plant species over the years. NTT's support will fortify the restoration endeavour through the application of Smart Management Platform (SMP) Technology and Analytics. Additionally, NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services provider, will provide operational assistance and contribute to fundraising efforts.

Barney Swan, CEO and Co-founder of ClimateForce emphasised the significance of NTT and NTT DATA’s support, stating, “ClimateForce serves as a testbed for technologies safeguarding biodiversity and addressing climate change.
