US president Donald Trump may have made Twitter his own, leading the pack of serving global leaders on the social media platform. But on another social media platform, he has to pass on the bragging rights to another.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the numero uno on photo-sharing platform Instagram.
Modi is the most popular global leader on Instagram with 14.8 million followers, according to a list published by online platform twiplomacy. He is closely followed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo with 12.2 million followers. With 10 million followers US President Donald Trump is in the third position.
According to twiplomacy, the picture of newly married Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma meeting the prime minister has become the most liked picture posted by any world leader.
The picture has received 1,834,707 hearts since all three have a combined following of 55 million on Instagram.
The picture of Narendra Modi standing at a bust stop in snowy Davos ahead of the World Economic Forum 2018 is the second most liked picture with a total of 1,635,978 likes.
The Prime Minister is also very much active on Twitter and Facebook. With more than 43 million followers on his Twitter account and more than 40 million likes on Facebook, he is one of the most popular global leaders on social media platforms.
Modi has a tech-savvy reputation. In 2015, He launched NaMo app to give his followers all the latest information, updates and his day-to-day activities.
Modi has long championed the use of social media. On the occasion of Social Media day on June 30, Modi said the new medium has played a key role in democratising discourse and helped people express their views and showcase their creativity.
"Greetings on Social Media Day! The world of social media has played a key role in democratising our discourse and giving a platform to millions of people around the world to express their views and showcase their creativity," Modi tweeted.
Modi and his party, the BJP are also giving importance to social media to reach out to the public. They introduced promotional merchandise, micro-donations up to Rs 1,000, and video interactions through NaMo app and it shows the added importance given by the party to app-based engagement in the upcoming general election.
Pope Francis, who started his Instagram journey on March 19, 2016, is in fourth position with 5.7 million followers, just ahead of Queen Rania of Jordan, Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the White House account with more than 4 million followers, respectively.
The UK Royal FamilyHH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev complete the top 10 list of the most followed world leaders on Instagram.
