Instagram down for thousands of users in the US, Downdetector shows

This is the second time the platform has been down in a month. Instagram, along with Facebook, saw a major outage on March 5 as well, affecting thousands of users globally.

Meta-owned Instagram was unavailable for thousands of users on Thursday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

At the height of the outage, more than 6,000 users in the United States reported having trouble accessing the photo-sharing platform, Downdetector's data showed.
The reports seem to have started around 4 am IST and was at the peak around 5.47 am. While the number seems to have dropped significantly around 11 am, data still shows about 450 users reporting issues.
In India, over 900 users reported outage during peak time.
Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.
This is the second time the platform has been down in a month. Instagram, along with Facebook, saw a major outage on March 5 as well, affecting thousands of users globally.
The incident led to a surge of frustration among the user base, with over 300,000 reports of outages flooding in for Facebook, and an additional 47,000 reports for Instagram.
