Google Pixel 8 Series Rumours: Specifications and price increase revealed
The Google Pixel 8 series is all set to launch on October 4 and after several design leaks, the full set of specifications has also made its way online. Leaks reveal several updates from its predecessor, including a seven-year window for software updates.

91Mobiles on Monday published all the specifications of the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, which were first discovered by tipster Kamila Wojciechowska, who also mentioned that the seven-year period is not necessarily for the operating system but for all software updates. This could mean up to five years of OS updates up from last year’s three-year timeline for the same.
Both devices will be powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset. The Pixel 8 is expected to have a smaller screen size of 6.2 inches, down from the 6.3-inch display on last year's Pixel 7. It is also likely to come in two variants — 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, could feature a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with 12GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage (1 TB in the US).
The main camera on both devices is a 50MP sensor, as per 91Mobiles. The Pixel 8 will additionally have a 12MP ultrawide lens. Users can expect a 48MP ultrawide sensor and another 48MP telephoto camera with up to 30x zoom on both the main and the telephoto lenses on the Pixel 8 Pro. Both devices are also expected to have the same 10.5 MP selfie camera on the front.
As for the battery capacity, 91Mobiles shared that the Pixel 8 could have a 4,575mAh battery with up to 27W fast charging and wireless charging up to 18W. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to house a 5,050mAh battery with up to 30W fast charging and wireless charging up to 23W.
Earlier this month, rumours suggested that the Pixel 8 series could see a price hike in Europe and now, leakers suggest that the same could be expected in the US and the UK.
According to 9To5Google, the price for both the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro could see a bump of $100 from last year’s price tag of $599 and $899, respectively, in the US. The numbers look quite similar for the UK region as well, with both devices receiving a price increase of 100 pounds, taking them to 699 pounds and 999 pounds, respectively.
91Mobiles also shared that the Pixel 8 will be available in Obsidian, Hazel and Rose colour options, while the Pixel 8 Pro will come in Obsidian, Porcelain and Bay.
