Known for adding playful twists to various occasions, Google, apart from being our go-to search engine, has also been home to doodles. From offering interactive and interesting games to marking important events, Google Doodles have grown quite popular over the years. And now, on the occasion of Nowruz, Google's homepage featured a vibrant and festive doodle to celebrate the Persian New Year.
Nowruz, an ancient Iranian festival, is celebrated on the vernal equinox, marking the beginning of spring.

The doodle was created by Iranian guest artist Pendar Yousefi, who wanted to evoke his "happy childhood memories of Nowruz" with the imagery featuring animal friends gathering in a flower-filled courtyard to ring in the coming spring.
“My process involved a lot of research into Nowruz customs and artistic traditions of these communities. I decided to use the visual language of illuminated manuscripts as the anchoring theme since that's part of the artistic heritage across the regions that celebrate Nowruz,” says the artist about the doodle.
Further, talking about the symbolic meaning of the particular doodle, he added that he drew it from his happy childhood memories of Nowruz, evoking feelings of joy, togetherness, and hope. “These are captured through the animal friends who have gathered in a flower-filled courtyard to ring in the coming of spring under the blossoming tree.”
Besides festivals and celebrations, Google Doodles also commemorate local and worldwide events like holidays, important dates, and notable individuals who have left a major impression on society. They are presented in the form of images, animations, videos, slideshows, and even games.
