Google Cloud unveils Gemini Pro — its AI tool for organisations

"It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalise and seamlessly understand, operate across, and combine different types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video, in the same way humans see, hear, read, listen, and talk about many different types of information simultaneously," Kurien wrote in the blog post.

Gemini accommodates tasks ranging from highly complex to on-device applications. The introduction of Imagen 2, an upgraded image model, and MedLM, a domain-specific model for healthcare, further expands Google Cloud's diverse AI model offerings.

Vertex AI is Google Cloud's enterprise AI platform for developers. Gemini Pro, now available in preview on Vertex AI, empowers developers to build agents capable of processing information across text, code, images, and video, Kurien added.

Duet AI, Google Cloud's assistive AI agents for Workspace and Google Cloud, has been augmented with capabilities that enhance threat detection, investigation, and response, utilising the power of generative AI.

Google Cloud also said it is making Gemini more accessible with competitive pricing and expanding indemnification to address copyright concerns.
