ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) on Monday announced the launch of the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024.
ASUS’ latest lineup of gaming smartphones is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and is said to feature advanced AI capabilities such as X-Sense 2.0, AI Grabber, semantic search, AI noise cancellation and more.
Both smartphones have a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 165 Hz.
The ROG Phone 8 has two RAM options at 12 and 16GB with 256 GB of storage. The Phone 8 Pro, on the other hand, boasts 16GB and 24GB of RAM, paired with 512GB and 1TB of internal storage respectively. The 24GB+1TB variant, called the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition, will also ship with ROG AeroActive Cooler X.
The rear triple camera system on the back features a 50 MP Sony IMX890 main sensor with 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0, a 13 MP ultrawide lens and a 32 MP telephoto shooter with 3X optical zoom.
At 225 g, the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro are lighter than their predecessors and manage to house internal cooling mechanisms like the Rapid-Cooling Conductor that conducts heat directly from the SoC to the back cover. The devices are also rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.
Both devices pack a 5,500mAh battery with support for wireless charging. They will also be shipped with a 30W adapter in the box.
The ROG Phone 8 will be available in Rebel Grey and Phantom Black colour options, while the ROG Phone 8 Pro will only be available in the Phantom Black option.
In India, the ROG Phone 8 Pro is priced at ₹94,999 while the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition is priced at ₹1,19,999. They will be available at Vijay Sales stores, ASUS E-shop, ASUS Exclusive Store and ROG Store.
ASUS said that the sale date will be announced soon.
