Tech giant Apple is planning to launch its all-new iPad Air and iPad Pro line-up in March. The iPad Pro models might undergo a few changes in size and thickness. The new models will be significantly thinner compared with earlier models, sources told 9to5Mac.
The larger version of the next iPad Pro is expected to be a mm thinner. These adjustments are majorly due to the introduction of OLED in the iPad Pro line-up, which has fewer layers than the LCD.
While the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro is 6.4mm thick, the upcoming new model is said to have a thickness of 5mm. On the other hand, the 11-inch iPad Pro, which is currently 5.9mm thick, will be reduced to 5.1mm thickness with its updated version. These tablets are expected to be slightly bigger, though.
The current 11-inch iPad Pro measures 247.6 mm in width, 178.5 mm in height, and 5.9 mm in thickness. Its new version might be slightly larger in width (249.7 mm) and shorter at 177.5 mm.
However, the most important feature will be its 5.1 mm thickness compared with 5.9 mm in the previous models.
Similarly, the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro measures 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.4 mm. The new version is expected to measure 281.5 mm in width, 215.5 mm in height, and 5.0 mm in thickness.
Besides the iPad Pro models, Apple is also expected to introduce two new iPad Air models. This includes a larger 12.9-inch version, which will be introduced in the market, reports said.
The larger version of the iPad Air is expected to be almost the same size as the current iPad Pro.
As per rumours, the tech giant is planning to limit the new OLED display technology to the Pro line-up. Hence, the all-new 12.9-inch iPad Air might come with an LCD only.
Apple's new iPad Air and iPad Pro lineup is expected to be backed by its M3 chip technology, which was introduced last year in updated MacBook Pro models.
