Apple will be hosting its next — and probably the last — event for the year on October 30. While most Apple events begin when it's morning in California, which is where the company is based, this one is at an unusual time. And on the eve of Halloween, on top of that.
The “Scary Fast” event will be an online livestream and will start at 5.30 am IST on October 31. While it will be early morning in India, California would be behind at 5 pm and New York at around 8 pm. So, that familiar “Good morning” from CEO Tim Cook is very unlikely.
Fans have also been suggesting that the event could be Halloween-themed, but, given Apple's minimalistic approach to everything, don’t get your hopes too high. However, Apple did give us a nice environment-friendly skit starring actress Octavia Spencer as Mother Nature at the Wonderlust event in September.
This event will have no in-person audience and will only be available on Apple’s YouTube channel or its official website to stream.
From the looks of it, “Scary Fast” is expected to primarily be a Mac event. The biggest hint is most likely the Apple logo on the invite that animates and turns into the Finder icon found on macOS. Mark Gurman, along with other Apple trackers, is expecting the release of the M3 chips from Apple — maybe the debut of 3nm processors in the Mac lineup. Several Mac models are also expected to receive major upgrades in terms of processing and power, the design will most likely remain the same.
“I believe M3 series MacBook Pro will be Oct 30th media event's focus,” Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared on X (formerly Twitter). The reason, as per Kuo, is to boost the MacBook shipments, which saw a decline in 2023.
I believe M3 series MacBook Pro will be Oct 30th media event's focus. I previously predicted a launch this year is unlikely due to limited 4Q23 shipments (less than 400-500k units in total). An alleged image of the expected-to-launch MacBook Pro also was doing rounds on the internet. The image shows an unreleased silver MacBook Pro in traditional Apple packaging with new wallpaper in the silver and black colours of the invite for the event. It first surfaced on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo and was then shared on X on October 25 by tipster ShrimpApplePro (@VNchocoTaco). The leak does not include any information.

The iMac, which was last updated in 2021 with the M1 chipset, could also get an update at the event with the M3 chipset.
There have been no other official details about the launch or what products to expect, so it is best to take all the leaks and rumours with a pinch of salt. All speculation will be cleared by Apple when the event streams.
