Apple has officially launched its all-new iOS 17 update for compatible iPhones and the users can download and install the updated version of the operating system. The iOS17 update, which was unveiled at Apple’s WWDC 2023 event, promises a host of new features and improvements to enhance the iPhone experience.
What's new in the iOS 17 update?
While iOS 17 retains its familiar aesthetics, it introduces several noteworthy additions and enhancements. Some key features include Standby mode, Contact posters, India-centric features like bilingual Siri support, Enhanced dual SIM experience, Stickers updates, AirDrop updates, and Keyboard improvements.
Also, now iPhone users can simply say ‘Siri’ without the need for the customary ‘Hey!’ to wake the voice assistant.
iOS17 update compatible iPhone models
The iPhone models that are compatible with iOS 17 update, include:
- iPhone 15 series.
- iPhone 14 series.
- iPhone 13 series.
- iPhone 12 series.
- iPhone 11 series.
- iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
- iPhone SE (second generation or later).
Notably, iOS 17 is not available for iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or earlier models.
How to install iOS 17 update?
Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
Step 2: If the update notice doesn't appear immediately, wait briefly or select any offered upgrades.
Step 3: When you see ‘Install Now’ or ‘Download and Install’, tap it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 4: You may need to enter your passcode and agree to terms.
It’s important to note that before you update to iOS 17, the users should take a backup of the data to ensure that their personal information is secure and to retain the option of reverting to iOS 16 if needed. Generally, the iPhone backs up data automatically during sleep hours, while connected to power and Wi-Fi. However, you can manually back up your device by going to Settings >
For Mac users, you can also back up your iPhone using Finder. Simply connect your device to your computer, open Finder, select your device, and create a backup. Apple recommends archiving your backup to prevent it from being overwritten by subsequent backups.
