Have you ever wanted to seamlessly move your favorite playlists between different streaming services? Well, it seems like Apple Music might be making that dream a reality. Reports from Reddit users suggest that Apple is currently testing a new feature in its Android beta version that integrates with a third-party service called SongShift.
For those not in the know, SongShift has been around for a while, offering a handy way to transfer music libraries and playlists between various streaming platforms. You can use it to move your playlists between Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music or others. However, the standalone app is only available for iOS.
But now, it looks like Apple is stepping up its game by potentially building SongShift right into Apple Music, especially for the Android users. According to 9To5Mac, there’s a new prompt in the Apple Music app for Android, asking if you want to “add saved music and playlists you made in other music services to your Apple Music library.” Plus, there’s also a nifty option in the settings to do just that.
This integration is all thanks to SongShift, which seems to be powering the magic behind the scenes. Essentially, Apple seems to be making it easier for folks to switch over from Spotify and other platforms to Apple Music.
However, the feature is still in its early stages. It’s currently only available for select users in the Apple Music for Android beta, and it’s not fully functional just yet. But hey, it’s a clear sign that Apple and SongShift are working on something together.
As for iPhone users, we’ll have to wait and see if this integration makes its way to Apple Music on iOS. Typically, Apple likes to keep things consistent between its Android and iPhone apps but since SongShift is already available for iOS users, we’re not sure how the integration would work out.
