Tech major Apple launched its new iPhones - iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR - on Thursday at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, US.

The prices of the iPhones have seen a consistent rise since 2014, with the most expensive iPhone at the time, 6S Plus, reaching $499. The $499- model was the most expensive variant. Variant, here, is in terms of the storage size of the iPhone. The one with the most storage capacity is priced higher than the others.
In 2007, when Apple launched its first ever iPhone, named 'iPhone', it was in the price range of the cheapest at $499 and the most expensive at $599. The cheapest variant was of 4 GB and 8 GB was the most expensive one.
At the time, it was the most expensive phone and Apple was unable to make its name in the mainstream market.

Beating last year's all-time price of the most expensive iPhone, the tech firm set its new flagship dual-sim iPhone XS Max price starting price at $1,099. Taking the current rupee rate to be 72, the price of the iPhone in India is pegged at Rs 79,128. However, reports have claimed that the starting price of the iPhone will be as high as Rs 1,09,900. The phone will be available in three variants - 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB.

2017
The prices of the iPhones had reached an all-time of $999 last year, with the launch of iPhone X, marking the ten-year anniversary of the tech firm. The most expensive variant of the iPhone X was as high as $1,149.
This was the first ever iPhone to have crossed the one-lakh mark in India, with a price tag of Rs 1,02,000 for the 256 GB variant.
Last year, the company launched iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus where the prices ranged from $699 to $950. The starting price of iPhone 8 was $699 while the starting price of iPhone 8 Plus was $799.
2016
The tech major in 2016 launched its economical iPhone model, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
iPhone SE was launched with the starting price of $399, with its most expensive variant at $499.
The iPhone 7 launch prices were in the range $649 and $849, same as the launch prices of iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7 Plus launch prices were in the $749 and $969 range, same as the launch prices of iPhone 6s Plus.
2015
Apple, in 2015, launched the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which beat the prices of 2014's most expensive iPhone, iPhone 6 Plus.
iPhone 6s was launched with the start price of $649, with its most expensive variant at $849 while the iPhone 6s plus was more expensive than the former, and the launch prices were in the range of $749, being the start price and $969 being the most expensive variant.
2014
This was the year Apple bounced back to its 2007 prices of $499. The most expensive variant of iPhone 6 Plus was pegged at $499 while the cheapest variant was launched at $299. The iPhone 6 was launched in the $199 and $399 range, making $399 the most expensive variant.
