Global human resources consulting major Mercer, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc, on Monday acquired online talent assessment firm Mettl.

The acquisition of the cloud technology and data sciences-driven Mettl platform for an undisclosed amount marks Mercer's entry into the rapidly growing global talent assessment market.
The deal marks Mercer's entry into the global talent assessment market.
The startup was founded in 2010 by Tonmoy Shingal and Ketan Kapoor.
For Mettl, the deal marks the beginning of their global expansion after cementing their leadership position in the Indian market.
Ketan Kapoor, co-founder and CEO of Mettl discuses on the deal and the road ahead.
“We have worked with Mercer in the past," said Kapoor. "We have first met them around two years back and it was more a meeting to explore business synergies."
Mercer has been looking for a good partner to run the assessment for the global clientele and right from the first meeting, we felt that there are a lot of synergies, he said.
"We were at a stage when our investor was beginning to nudge out to think for an exit. So, the timing was pretty right. We were on upstream as far as growth is concerned. We have been a profitable company since 2015,” Kapoor added.
On his role in the new entity, he said, “There is no change on grounds. No structural changes are planned as of now. We don’t want to disrupt anything and the idea is given the high growth rates that we have the DNA of a startup if we are able to percolate in a larger set-up that is the best outcome from here on.”
