Hours after multiple reports of legendary Zimbabwe cricketer Heath Streak's death, a twitter account named after Henry Olonga, the former Zimbabwe fast bowler, posted a fresh tweet dismissing reports and said the cricketer is alive. The same account had reported, a few hours earlier, that Streak had passed away. CNBC-TV18 had carried a report based on the same. However, it is now unclear whether the news was correct.
"I can confirm that rumours of the demise of Heath Streak have been greatly exaggerated. I just heard from him. The third umpire has called him back. He is very much alive folks," he tweeted at 10:27 am IST.

Earlier at 2:39 am, Olonga had tweeted "Sad news coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP @ZimCricketv legend." He has, however, deleted this tweet from the microblogging site.
According to a latest report by Sportstar, Streak was at his home in Zimbabwe when he heard reports of his ‘demise’. As the word spread and tributes poured in from across the world, Streak confirmed to Indian sports magazine that he is in ‘good health and recovering from cancer’.
“People should be a bit more careful before spreading such rumours. I am better now and recovering from cancer,” he told Sportstar.
Though multiple reports suggesting Streak's death have been doing the rounds on social media, it is advisable to wait for an official word from Streak's family, the cricket board in Zimbabwe, the International Cricket Council (ICC) or any other official source. Until then, we hope and pray that the legendary all-rounder is keeping well.
