The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared Rishabh Pant fit to play the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. A day after that announcement, BCCI released a video where Pant talks about his 14-month-long recovery after his car crash in 2023.

Pant suffered a tragic car accident on December 31, 2022, after which the southpaw underwent an intense rehabilitation program under the watch of the BCCI as well as the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
“Talking about the right knee, none of the ligaments were spared during that accident. You talk about ACL, PCL, lateral collateral ligament, medial collateral ligament, popliteus muscle, as well as part of the quadriceps, you name it and he didn’t have it,” says Dhananjay Kaushik, physiotherapist at the NCA.
Pant leads the Delhi Capitals in the IPL and missed the entirety of the previous season due to his accident.
He had to miss out on crucial international assignments like the World Test Championship (WTC) final in England as well as the whole of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup that was held in the country in October-November last year.
“I think if there’s anyone who could’ve made a comeback, it’s Rishabh. With the kind of attitude he’s got, the way he takes things in his stride,” adds Kaushik.
