Iga Swiatek rolled over Maria Sakkari to emerge victorious in the final of the Indian Wells by 6-4 6-0 to win the tournament for the second time in the California desert on Sunday.

Swiatek demonstrated accurate serving and a robust defence to catch Sakkari off-guard, with the former clinching the final eight games to secure the trophy without even dropping a set.
"I'm really proud of myself, I'm super happy," Swiatek told reporters. "Even though this tournament looked like, the scores, maybe I had everything under control, it wasn't from the beginning to the end so easy. So I'm happy I could improve during the tournament. I felt really good on the last two matches, big amount of confidence. I'm really proud of myself," she added.

"Right now I just feel I've done really good work. It hasn't been easy after Australia, and I've been working hard to play well and to handle everything mentally well," Swiatek said.

The Pole had built a 3-0 lead over Sakkari, who clawed back to equal the scores 4-4. Swiatek in fact dragged Sakarri from one end of the court to the other, before getting hold over the opening point with a formidable forehand winner. She dominated the second set, and finally sealed the title with a backhand winner.
