LALIGA defending champions FC Barcelona played a goalless draw against Athletic Club as a chance to narrow the distance between them and league leaders Real Madrid FC was let go of by the Blaugrana on Sunday.
Real Madrid lost points after their 2-2 draw away at Valencia, and a win could have helped Barcelona bridge the gap with the Los Blancos, which could have also helped them surpass Girona in the standings.
