Global sportswear brand adidas has unveiled the latest iteration of its SUPERNOVA franchise, starting with the introduction of the SUPERNOVA RISE. The new running shoe, available in both women's and men's variants, is positioned as a comfort-centric option, targeting the needs of casual runners.
According to findings from a recent adidas study involving 1,300 female runners, comfort emerged as a key consideration for individuals selecting running footwear. In response to these insights, the SUPERNOVA RISE incorporates design elements focused on maximising comfort and minimizing distractions during runs, adidas said in a press release.
According to the press release, at the core of the revamped SUPERNOVA series is the Dreamstrike+ midsole, a "super-foam" material inspired by the LIGHTSTRIKE PRO utilised in the brand's high-performance ADIZERO franchise. The updated formula of Dreamstrike+ aims to provide unparalleled comfort and cushioning. In the SUPERNOVA RISE and SUPERNOVA SOLUTION models, the midsole covers the entire footbed, while in the SUPERNOVA STRIDE, it is positioned in the forefoot region alongside an EVA compound midsole.
To address the physiological dynamics of a moving foot, adidas said it has introduces a Support Rod System in the outsole of the SUPERNOVA RISE and SUPERNOVA SOLUTION models. This technology, inspired by foot motion, offers support, transition, and stability where needed. The Support Rod System in SUPERNOVA SOLUTION features two middle rods splinted together, providing additional support for runners who desire it, adidas said.
Additional features of the SUPERNOVA series include a comfort heel fit, combining cushioning foam and soft textile for optimal comfort and support. The shoe's engineered sandwich mesh and meticulous detailing aim to cater to the diverse needs of runners.
The SUPERNOVA RISE is available for purchase at a price of ₹14,999 in select adidas stores and online. The subsequent releases in the SUPERNOVA series, namely the SUPERNOVA SOLUTION and SUPERNOVA STRIDE, are scheduled to hit the market on February 22, 2024.
