Men in blue are all set to face New Zealand in the mega ICC World Cup semi-final clash on November 15 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. India's last semi-final against the Kiwis in 2019 left a deep mark in the millions of cricket fans and also was the last match played by India's most celebrated captain MS Dhoni.
As India stands unbeaten in the marquee tournament after defeating New Zealand in one of the league matches, Rohit Sharma and co. is currently one hand up when it comes to stats. However, the match of 2019 can still haunt the minds as India plays the first knock-out round.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Abhinav Bindra shared some words of wisdom for Team India on handling pressure against a team that has gotten the better of the team very often in ICC tournament knockouts.
“Remember, the present moment is like a perfect shot – it’s all you’ve got. Stay in it. Your routine is your ritual – it’s what turns pressure into performance. Stick to it, but don’t be afraid to throw in a googly and adapt when the situation demands,” Bindra wrote.
“Crisis? That’s just another word for ‘I’m about to make history’. So when the going gets tough, the tough don’t just get going, they dig deep and build a skyscraper right there. Lastly, pressure is like your shadow in the afternoon sun – it might look big, but it’s not heavier than a cricket ball. Don’t run from it. Embrace it, high-five it, and you’ll learn to dance with it on the pitch.
