In an effort to boost funds for the party, the BJP has come out with an initiative asking people to donate Rs 5 to Rs 1,000 with a referral code through NaMo app to the party and get a chance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reported The Economic Times.
The donor can send the referral code to his/ her contacts via e-mail, SMS and Whatsapp, the report said. “If a hundred people use that referral code or the sent link to donate funds through the app, the motivator could get a chance to meet the prime minister,” a senior BJP leader was quoted as saying by the daily.
If at least 10 people donate using donor's referral code, then he/she will get free NaMO merchandise, such as t-shirts or coffee mugs, available on the app, the report added.
The BJP leader also said that the microdonation feature was introduced to "increase contact" between the prime minister and citizens.
