Suspension spree continues in Lok Sabha; Sonia, Rahul join protest by suspended MPs
The suspension spree continued for the fourth day on Wednesday, December 20, as two more opposition Parliamentarians were suspended for the remainder of the Winter Session of Parliament. Lok Sabha MPs C Thomas and AM Ariff were suspended "displaying placards and entering the Well of the House".

Earlier in the day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul joined the protest held by suspended Parliamentarians on Wednesday, December 20. In the last three days, 141 MPs were suspended for the remainder of the Winter Session of Parliament.
Kharge said, "We will continue our protest until the suspension of MPs is revoked."
Sonia said never before have so many Opposition MPs been suspended and that too for raising a "perfectly reasonable and legitimate" demand. "What happened on December 13 is inexcusable and cannot be justified. It took four days for the prime minister to address the nation and express his views on the incident and he did so outside Parliament," she said.
The suspended MPs were seen protesting against the government at Parliament's Makar Dwar. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was also suspended, said, "This is a disgrace and a blot on our democracy."
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Majhi hit out at the government saying it does not want discussion any bill and is suspending Opposition members, "Whenever the opposition raises questions regarding the security of the country, everyone is suspended...It is for the first time that so many MPs have been suspended and we oppose it...The government wants that there should be no discussion on any of the bills and the bills are passed easily."
The suspension spree started on December 15 as the Opposition is adamant on the statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on the security breach incident in Lok Sabha on December 13.
